Family and Mortgages in Florida: Buying With, From, or For a Relative
Short answer
Family can help in more ways than most buyers know: gift funds, a gift of equity, co-signing as a non-occupant co-borrower, or you can even buy a home for a parent or a disabled adult child. Here’s every option in one place.

Some of the most common mortgage questions I get aren’t about rates at all. They’re about family. Can my parents help with the down payment? Can I buy a house for my mom? I work for my uncle’s company, does that count? What happens to the house after a divorce or when a parent passes away? Every one of these has a real answer in the lending guidelines. This guide gathers them in one place.
